A Level, consisting of a long graduated, water bubble with a vane and
peephole at each end. With a staff mount and an adjusting screw.
Although a simple design the level is well made and is surprisingly
sensitive. The box is made of fruitwood bearing old worm holes.
Note the level is displayed for photography on a wood stand, this is NOT
INCLUDED.
Julius Nissens is listed in “Historic Scientific Instruments in Denmark”
by Hemming Anderson, Copenhagen 1995. The label in the box reads
“Efterfölger” which translates as “successor”, presumably to Julius
Nissen an earlier instrument maker also mentioned by Anderson.
